LANSING – State Representative John Espinoza (D-Croswell) has been named Chair of the House Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee.
"Agriculture is a key industry and job provider in the Thumb, especially during this tough economy," said Espinoza, who served as Chair of the subcommittee last term. "I will use this leadership role to build on the work I've done with local farmers to advocate for agricultural needs at the Capitol. Investing in renewable energy, agricultural marketing and development, and farming technology will help our farmers and businesses in Sanilac and St. Clair counties and all across Michigan thrive."
Espinoza, who is serving his third term representing the 83rd District, was also named Vice Chair of the State Police and Military and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee and a member of the Environmental Quality and Community Health Appropriations subcommittees.
"As a combat veteran and former police officer, I know what resources our police and armed forces need," Espinoza said. "I'll be working with my colleagues to make sure the state is providing the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. I will be vigilant about spending taxpayer money wisely and carefully on the priorities that really matter."
