LANSING¬ –State Representative John Espinoza (D-Croswell) has been appointed Associate Speaker Pro Tempore of the Michigan House of Representatives for the 95th Legislature.
"I am honored that the Speaker of the House has chosen me for this leadership position," said Espinoza, who is serving his third term representing the 83rd District. "As legislators, we have to stay focused on creating jobs and turning our economy around. I welcome the chance to help create the kind of productive, bipartisan atmosphere that will enable us to get things done for the people of Michigan."
The Associate Speaker Pro Tempore fills in whenever the Speaker Pro Tempore is not available. The Speaker Pro Tempore has the vital responsibility of running the Chamber from the rostrum and keeping the legislative process moving during House Session.
"I believe in spending our time in Lansing doing the job we were sent here to do," Espinoza said. "When I am called upon to run a House session, I will focus on doing legislative work fairly and efficiently, because there is no time to waste."
