LANSING – State Representative John Espinoza (D-Croswell) today announced that Sanilac County will receive $2.3 million from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for a local reconstruction project on M-25, which will create jobs for our workers and get our roads back in shape after a tough winter.
"My top priority is creating good-paying jobs for our workers and stimulating economic development in our communities, and this major project will help do that," Espinoza said. "The condition of our roads sends a message to visitors and businesses deciding whether to invest in Michigan. We must make sure that our message is a positive one. By improving this stretch of M-25 along the lakeshore, we will make the drive smoother for tourists, residents, workers and employers from around the world."
Sanilac County will receive $2.3 million from MDOT for reconstruction of M-25 from Russell Road to Patz Road. Work is set to begin in June. The project is part of a $148 million statewide economic stimulus campaign announced today by the governor that will accelerate local construction projects. The plan will add 2,100 jobs statewide and boost both local and state economies.
"This project represents the kind of aggressive job-creation programs that we need to build a stronger Michigan and get our workers back on the job," Espinoza said. "This is the right kind of investment to improve our roads and our economy."
